Pumped Storage system utilises surplus grid power available from thermal power stations or other sources to pump up water from lower to upper reservoir and re-produces power during peak demand when there is scarcity of power.
Pumped Storage mechanism stabilises grid frequency, meets peak demand instantly and increases PLF, efficiency & life of thermal plants. It also reduces damage to industrial equipment. It is techno-economically favourable than gas turbine plant.
