As part of State Government initiative on promotion of Renewable Energy in the state 2 Solar Artifacts (Tree) @ 3.2KWP each were installed and made operational by WBREDA on 25th May, 2018 at Bidyut Unnayan Bhawan, Salt Lake, Kolkata. Shri Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay, Hon'ble MIC, Power & NES Department declared the Solar Artifacts operational in the August presence of Shri Sunil Kumar Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, Shri Rajesh Pandey, CMD WBSEDCL, Shri Santanu Basu, CMD WBPDCL.
Advantages of Solar Artifacts
:
1.Innovative designing requiring small area.
2.Uses Solar Energy efficiently (producing 50% more power during winter and 20% more power during other seasons as compared to flat panels).
3.Harnesses clean Energy.

Hon'ble MIC & Additional Chief Secretary Power & NES Department declaring the Artifacts operational at a ceremony at Bidyut Unnayan Bhaban, Salt Lake, Kolkata.
Jhalda 132/33 KV GIS was commissioned on 29.05.2019 at 17.15 hrs along with 2nos 132/33KV 50MVA Transformers. The commissioning of 132/33KV Jhalda GIS will strengthen the power infrastructure of Purulia District and solve the low voltage problem of Jaipur, Jhalda-I, Jhalda-II & Arsha Blocks. At present, maximum tentative load will be 40 MVA. As a result, more than 70,000 consumers will be benefitted. Jhalda 132 KV GIS was constructed by M/s ABB in 2 years at a cost of Rs 25.46 crores, and the related 132 KV Bagmundi-Jhalda Double circuit Transmission Line (100 CKM) was completed by M/S L&T Ltd. in 3 years at a total cost of Rs 42.81 crores.
Gazole 220/132/33 KV GIS was commissioned on 23.07.2019 at 19.26 hrs and fully loaded on 26.07.2019 at 12.18 hrs along with 2nos 220/132/33KV 160MVA & 2 nos. 132/33KV 50MVA Transformers. The commissioning of 220/132/33KV Gazole GIS will strengthen the power infrastructure of Malda District and solve the low voltage problem of Gazole, Bamongola and Old Malda Blocks. At present, maximum tentative load will be 55 MVA.As a result, more than 1,74,000 consumers will be benefitted. Gazole 220/132/33 KV GIS was constructed by M/s Sterling & Wilson in about 3 years at a cost of Rs 89.78 crores, and the related 220 KV Dalkhola - Malda LILO at Gazole & 132KV connectivity with Samsi, Malda, Balurghat & Raiganj Transmission Line (119 CKM) was completed by M/S KEC International Ltd. in 3 years at a total cost of Rs 37.5 crores.
