A seminar on Electrical Safety Awareness Program was held at Siliguri on 19.07.2019 and it was jointly organised by CEA and Directorate of Electricity, Govt. of West Bengal, with the assistance of International Copper Association India and IEEMA, held at Zonal Manager Office of WBSEDCL, Siliguri.


Representatives of WBSEDCL, WBSETCL, PDCL, CESC, PWD(Electrical), W.B., PHE (Electrical) W.B., Siliguri Municipal Corporation, North Bengal University, North Bengal Medical College, BIS, Fire Service Department, W.B., St. John Ambulance and some big School and Colleges of Siliguri, some big Nurshing Home, some big Mall & Hotels & Members of Electrical Contractors Association were present in this seminar.


CEA and DOE explained about general features of Electrical Safety & its related Online License Procedures. BIS explained about various provisions for choosing Electrical Materials / Equipment's. International Copper Association India explained about different types of Electrical wires & switches. WBSEDCL narrated basic Electrical Safety regarding installation of Overhead Lines & Service Connection.


Interactive discussion session with different participants was held & the general feedback of the Seminar was quite encouraging & enriching also, to implement the Safety in Domestic & Industrial Electrical Installation in the State of W.B.

Description: Jhalda 132/33 KV GIS was commissioned on 29.05.2019 at 17.15 hrs along with 2nos 132/33KV 50MVA Transformers. The commissioning of 132/33KV Jhalda GIS will strengthen the power infrastructure of Purulia District and solve the low voltage problem of Jaipur, Jhalda-I, Jhalda-II & Arsha Blocks. At present, maximum tentative load will be 40 MVA. As a result, more than 70,000 consumers will be benefitted. Jhalda 132 KV GIS was constructed by M/s ABB in 2 years at a cost of Rs 25.46 crores, and the related 132 KV Bagmundi-Jhalda Double circuit Transmission Line (100 CKM) was completed by M/S L&T Ltd. in 3 years at a total cost of Rs 42.81 crores.
